NOTICE TO PET OWNERS APPLYING FOR PETAID REGISTRATION

The following paragraph outlines some important limitations and restrictions that you need to be made aware of prior to submitting your application for charitable veterinary treatment through the PDSA PetAid service.

PDSA Contribution:

  • With advances in veterinary science, much more can be done for pets nowadays than ever before. Some advanced treatments will be beyond the scope of a charitable veterinary service and if you want access to such treatments then you should consider taking out an insurance policy for your pet instead of registering through PDSA PetAid.
  • The PDSA does not receive any government funding for PetAid services, it is a charity dependant on client donations. A donation must be made every time the animal is treated/ provided for.

Owner Contribution:

  • The PDSA covers the treatment of sickness and injury but not the other essential aspects of owning a pet – known as preventive veterinary care. This includes Vaccination, neutering, flea and worming treatments (list not exhaustive) These procedures are the responsibility of all pet owners, must be paid for, and when relevant will be promoted and discussed with you by practice staff.
  • The Neutering (as soon as they are old enough) of your pet is strongly recommended. Please note: you will be required to pay for any treatment costs that relate to the planned mating of a pet you own or, in the case of an accidental mating, where live offspring are produced which could be sold for profit.

Renewals:

·         If your animal has not been seen within the last 3 months you will be required to bring the animal to a ‘PDSA application’ consultation with one of the Veterinary Surgeons at the practice costing £10.00. Only once a clean bill of health has been given and the re-application form completed, will the animal be considered for further membership to the scheme.

·         PetAid registration is for a defined period, as printed on your certificate. It is imperative that you re-apply in good time and maintain your registration as otherwise you will be charged for any veterinary treatment provided.

·         The Practice provider reserves the right to refuse membership without prejudice.

Further note:

  • It is important to appreciate that you are a client of this practice, not PDSA. This means that we, not PDSA, are responsible for the veterinary care of your pet.

·         Anyone wishing to join the scheme must have been registered with the Veterinary Practice provider with the nominated animal for a minimum of 3 months- unless otherwise agreed with the provider.
